Congratulations to the Van Calcar family on the birth of their son, Jan Rano! To honor his birth, the Van Calcars asked that in lieu of gifts, well-wishers make a donation to Women for Women International’s Congo Program. For her 70^th birthday, Ulla Jensen asked only that her friends donate to Women for Women International in lieu of giving her gifts. They did just that and raised a total of $1200! Ulla has been a long-time sponsor of women in Bosnia and Herzegovina and is still in touch with her four sisters. Without knowing that it was her birthday, and one of her sisters sent Ulla six handmade crochet dollies as a present—what a nice surprise! Emma on her Bat Mitzvah day

To spread awareness and support for women in war-torn regions among her family and friends, Emma Youcha chose to share her Bat Mitzvah with Women for Women International. She suggested donations to Women for Women International in lieu of traditional gifts, and raised more than $900!

Tara Kane, one of our wonderful dedicated supporters and someone who admits loving her own birthday, recently celebrated by dedicating her birthday party to Women for Women International. Her dedication helped raise over $100 and spread awareness for our programs and for the lives of women we work with. This party was truly inspiring as she was able to make her birthday a celebration for a worthy cause and help to make a difference for other women of the world. Clare Young has been very involved with Women for Women International for several years, sponsoring sisters from Afghanistan, Rwanda and Iraq. On August 31^st, she will be getting married to Kevin Tone in a beautiful and intimate Colorado ceremony. They have decided to perform a true act of selflessness by asking their wedding guests to donate to their favorite charities as a special wedding present to them.
