A group of female indie rockers will join forces on December 17th in Brooklyn, NY for a holiday concert to benefit our organization!  The Sirens of Brooklyn feature Marit Bergman, Courtney Kaiser, Cat Martino, Julia Frodahl, Rachelle Garniez, Lauren Balthrop, Liz Tormes, Katie Eastburn, Greta Gertler, Erin Flannery and Joy Askew. 

The group is putting together a special show featuring music that spans from traditional holiday songs sung in a unique way to classics like excerpts from Benjamin Brittain’s “Ceremony of Carols” to Yoko Ono.

Emily Anderson has begun her journey reenacting Alive Ramsey’s historic drive across America. In 1909, Alice became the first woman to drive across the United States. This summer Emily is celebrating the 100-year anniversary of Alice’s trip by following her route in a renovated 1909 Maxwell DA, the car Alice drove. Following Emily on her drive is a trailer featuring her sponsors and Women for Women International, which Emily has most kindly chosen to receive the funds raised for her drive. The evening will feature a panel discussion with Zainab Salbi, Founder and CEO of Women for Women International, and the cast of “RUINED.”

“RUINED,” is a play that tells the stories of violence, loss, conflict and the tremendous strength of women rape survivors in the Eastern regions of the Congo. Having won both the 2009 Pulitzer Prize and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play, “RUINED” takes its inspiration from the strength of women who have suffered rape and stigmatization yet carry on in the face of tremendous obstacles. On June 12th, “RUINED” will benefit the women of Eastern Congo.
