Women’s Clothing Give Away

On January 29th, Betsy Teutsch along with her friends will host the 6th Annual Women’s Clothing Give Away with the proceeds going to Women for Women International. Each year the event is hosted to collect donations – people are encouraged to give $20 – going to their favorite charity. This year Women for Women International is the lucky recipient. The clothes giveaway is a chance for people to recycle and to shop in other’s “closet”. People can donate as many new or gently-worn clothes as they like. The group accepts shoes, pocketbooks, jewelry, accessories, athletic equipment – anything that is not used that someone else might want. The leftover clothing is donated to the Whosoever Gospel Mission.

Drop offs begin on January 22nd with canvas bins outside where people can drop off their gently worn items. The address is:

Amanda’s Run Dedicated to the Women of the Congo

Over the course of six weeks Amanda, who is from Portland, OR ran/walked a total of 54 miles in honor of the women in the DR Congo, and raised more than $767 from 23 of her family and friends for WIfWI’s Run for Congo Women Program. Inspired by her efforts, she has decided to plan another event with a group of friends for a 10k run/walk. Her hope is to raise as much funds as she and her friends can to support and help the women of the Congo.

Thank you Amanda for your tremendous effort and support. It is very much appreciated.

Charity Event Show

Redondo Union High School’s club Reaching for Humanity: AAA and Nancy Silva’s club Richstone recently held a talent show fundraising event that raised $3000 to promote advocacy against all forms of abuse through our Charity Talent Show. Women for Women International was one of the lucky charities to receive a donation from Redondo Union High School.

The talent showwas a huge success as their original goal was only $1000, but it was a huge turn out. They contributed $1375 to Women for Women International to continue the mission.

Educational Radio and In-Studio Event in DC

WHUT (Howard University Television – DC’s PBS station), in partnership with Independent Television Service and the Women & Girls Lead Initiative, will be celebrating Women’s History Month with three episodes of their public affairs series, “Evening Exchange,” covering issues that face women and girls in our community.
Join the conversation as an in-studio audience member on December 6th for the filming of the third episode in the series, “Miss Biz – Saavy Strategies for Women-Owned Businesses.” Women entrepreneurs and business trainers will share their success stories, lessons learned and how to’s. “Evening Exchange” host Cassandra Clayton
will moderate the Q&A to follow.
WHUT will host a reception at 5:15 preceding the filming – an opportunity for you to network with other women.
