In celebration of V-Day 2010, students at George Mason University will be performing The Vagina Monologues Friday, February 26 and Saturday, February 27 at 8 pm and Sunday, February 28 at 3 pm. All of the proceeds from these performances will be donated to George Mason University Victims of Violence Fund and Women for Women International.
Written by Eve Ensler, The Vagina Monologues explores the experiences of different women from different backgrounds as they talk about various issues such as birth, love, mutilation, rape, and sex. The vagina is seen as a means of female empowerment in these monologues, and every year a new monologue about a recent subject confronting women around the world is included in the collection.
We’re grateful for the funds that these performances will bring to Women for Women International, and we’re even more excited about the awareness that will be raised about issues that are faced by women around the world, including those who participate in our programs. So come out Friday, Saturday, or Sunday for a great show and to support your sisters worldwide.
